NASW-NE Student Ambassadors

The NASW-Nebraska Student Ambassador Program is an initiative that identifies passionate and driven social work students across Nebraska to serve as a vital connection between their respective social work programs and the NASW-Nebraska Chapter.

Program Goals:

  1. Enhance Student Engagement: Provide students with leadership opportunities to connect with NASW-Nebraska and increase awareness of professional resources.
  2. Professional Development: Offer networking, mentorship, and educational experiences that promote career readiness and professional growth.
  3. Advocacy and Outreach: Equip students with the tools to advocate for social justice issues and promote NASW initiatives within their academic and local communities.
  4. Bridge Communication: Strengthen collaboration between social work programs and NASW-Nebraska to ensure students are informed about policies, opportunities, and resources.

Program Details:

  • Two Student Ambassador per Social Work Program: NASW-Nebraska aims to have two representative from each accredited social work program in the state.
  • Monthly Meetings: Ambassadors will participate in virtual to discuss updates, initiatives, and share experiences.
  • Term Commitment: Ambassadors will serve for an academic year (September-May), with the opportunity for renewal.

Role of a Student Ambassador:

  • Serve as a liaison between NASW-Nebraska and their respective social work program.
  • Promote NASW events, membership benefits, and advocacy efforts to fellow students.
  • Organize and participate in campus events, discussions, and outreach activities.
  • Provide feedback and insights on student needs and concerns to NASW leadership.
  • Encourage peer engagement with NASW initiatives, including policy action and professional development opportunities.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be an enrolled social work student (BSW or MSW) at a Nebraska-based university or college.
  • Be a current NASW member or willing to obtain student membership.
    • If you are not currently a member but plan to join, please indicate this on your application.
  • Reside in Nebraska.
  • Demonstrate leadership abilities, a commitment to social work values. and follow the NASW Code of Ethics.
  • Have strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively.
